Tuesday, Day 1:
It is the first day of Innovation Week and so far things are going well. I have completed all my research, however the programs I was going to use don't work well for me. Instead I made a template for a song sheet so I can write my start writing my song tomorrow.
Wednesday, Day 2:
Today I managed to finish off my song, so I am ahead of schedule! One of the teachers was looking at my project and thought it would be a good idea if I added a harmonic piece too so my song could sound better. When I got home I also recorded parts of my song to help harmonizing it tomorrow. Tomorrow I am going to work on researching how to harmonize a piece and try to make that part.
Thursday, Day 3:
I finished researching, and creating the harmonized part of my song. Because I had time I also started my PowerPoint presentation for showcasing my project. I will finish the PowerPoint tomorrow and record, as well as insert the music into the PowerPoint over the weekend.
Friday, Day 4:
I found a good free program where I can record and edit my music. The program is called audacity. I also finished my PowerPoint except for adding my song. Over the weekend I am going to record my song and put it into the PowerPoint as well as turn the PowerPoint into a video to run as my presentation. I am still trying to think of a way to give my song to people who want it, I have not figured out how to do that yet.
Research:
Question/Answer Phrases
- Repeat First Half, Change Second Half
- See Ode To Joy
Keep it Simple
- It’s my first song, so I should keep it short and repeat phrases
- Phrases in pattern 1121
Try to stick to the key signature
- Going out of the key signature can make the song sound bad
- Good songs out of the key signature is very hard to do
Think about the key signature you want to use
- This will influence how the song sounds
- It will also influence the mood of the sound
- Major Scales gives a happy mood
- Minor Scales gives a sad mood
- Blues Scales give a more celebratory mood
What time signature do you want to use
- Speed
- Accent on which note
Harmonizing
- Play the same
- Good if the melody is basic
- Good for less experienced players
- Go an octave up, or an octave up, or down
- More variety with the same melody
- Use a melodic third
- Go up or down 2 notes
- This gives the same melody, but a different look and sound.
